Mark your calendars, Rockford. The 78th Greenwich Village Art Fair is returning to the grounds of the Rockford Art Museum on September 19 and 20, 2026. This is one of Rockford's signature cultural events — and if you've never been, this is the year to go.
The Greenwich Village Art Fair has been a cornerstone of Rockford's arts identity since 1948, making it the longest-running outdoor juried art fair in the entire Midwest. Seventy-eight years of artists, collectors, musicians, families, and community members gathering on the museum's grounds to celebrate creativity and craft.
This year's fair runs Saturday, September 19 from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday, September 20 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is $10 at the gate, or $5 for Rockford Art Museum members — cash only. The event is held outdoors at 711 North Main Street in Rockford.
Expect dozens of juried artists from across the region and country, selling original paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and mixed media work. Live music from local and regional musicians plays throughout the weekend. There's also a children's art activity area, a local vendor marketplace, food trucks, and a champagne bar — a full cultural experience beyond just browsing booths.
The juried selection process means the quality of work at GVAF is consistently high. These are serious artists who applied, were reviewed, and were selected on the merit of their work. Many also show in galleries across the country and internationally. The fair is your chance to meet them in person, hear their stories, and buy directly from the source.
