Cops: South Carolina Man Dangles 5-Year-Old Over Pit Bull

LANCASTER, S.C. (CBS Charlotte/AP) — Police are looking for a Lancaster man who investigators say dangled a 5-year-old child over a pit bull after the child kicked dirt as his car and cursed at him.
Authorities say a judge has issued a warrant for third-degree assault and battery against 22-year-old Michael Chavis Jr.

Witnesses say Chavis became angry with the boy Sunday evening after dirt was kicked on his car. Police say the man picked the boy up, holding him near a chained, aggressive pit bull.
The dog breed is infamous for its menacing nature, though not all of the species exhibit such characteristics.
Police say Chavis is also wanted for failing to appear in court on a different charge.
