A ROCKFORD IL pizza driver delivered a pizza to a customer Friday night and a roundhouse haymaker to one of three assailants.

ROCKFORD — A pizza driver delivered a pizza to a customer Friday night and a roundhouse haymaker to one of three assailants.
Police said an attempted strong-armed robbery occurred about 6:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of School Street.
The pizza driver had just made a delivery and was walking back to his car when he was approached from behind by three men who struck him with a snowball and then grabbed at his pockets.
The pizza driver swung and struck one of the assailants with his fist and knocked him to the ground. The punch sent all three would-be robbers scampering in an unknown direction.
The driver described one assailant as black, about 20 years old and wearing a gray-hooded red shirt. The other two also are black, taller, 18 years old and each wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt.
The driver was not injured and nothing was taken.
